Silence

During my Advent Devotion this morning I was stopped at the word silence. As I reflected on my life and our culture, it became clear how a great tool technology had consumed our day. We’ve made the choice to allow these tools to hold captive every thought and action. All we hear is noise and are quickly distracted. I’d forgotten the blessing of a quiet moment, a time of silence away from the noise of busyness.

I’m seeking some times of silence this holiday season. Our bodies require rest and so does our mind. May you find a few moments of solitude-silence during this holiday season.

Psalm 115: 14-18

May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind. It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence; it is we who extol the Lord, both now and forevermore.

Praise the Lord
