Sabbath Rest
Seven years ago, I began a 30 month journey starting with open heart surgery & depression followed by cancer. I relished in being busy and thought little of rest. Through this experience I was reborn. Here are a few things that I've learned over the past 7 years.
1. Saying No is ok
2. If I do not take care of myself, I’ll be no good to others
3. Withdraw from the noise often
4. Listen & obey God
5. Love my Wife
Along the way I developed a new value system QRS – Quality of Life, Relationships & Stewardship. I came to understand how to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and love my neighbor as myself.
If the Lord rested on the seventh day, then I needed rest also. We live in a busy world that does not allow time for rest. We must make it a priority before life does it for us. I’m a better person for these experiences. The abundant life awaits each of us if we will slow down for a moment, listen, see and enjoy.
“So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.” Hebrews 4:9-10 NASB
